Yes, I'm breaking my blog silence. Finally. I'm sure some of you have given up on me. Truth is....my summer has not been moving along as expected.
I'm still coughing, which is really REALLY getting old. I think this is the 7th week.
Really?? Who coughs and hacks and wheezes from bronchitis for seven weeks??
Thankfully, I received a CD in the mail to take my mind off the coughing. I turned it up loud--you know--because of the coughing and because I like loud music.
It lifted my spirits.
When I was a kid, Christian music was either a church choir or a gospel quartet. Seriously. Gospel was, um.....gospel. Something your grandma listened to. (No offense to the grandmas reading.)
But not anymore!
Christian music is anything you want it to be. It's country, pop, jazz, hip hop, hard rock, alternative, rap....and yes, there's still some choral groups and some quartets out there for those who enjoy the old stuff.
I love Contemporary Christian music and listen to K-Love much of the time. That's why I was so excited when I was asked to preview Robert Pierre's new CD, "I'm All In". It hasn't even hit the stores yet and I'm already memorizing some of the tracks. :o)
It's hard to believe that Robert is only 18....nearly the same age as my oldest son and this is his 3rd album. AND he leads worship at his church in Florida....a church of 800. Wow. Such an inspiration. This kid knows His stuff, seriously. (Get it? His stuff? Meaning the stuff of God?) Yeah. He really does. He's wise beyond his years.
From Robert's website:
After several years of relentless touring behind his last critically acclaimed album, Robert returned to the studio last year - this time with songs of his own. In fact, Robert co-wrote nearly every song on IʼM ALL IN - a first for the 18-year old who is just now finishing high school. With executive-producer Jason Ingram (Tenth Avenue North, Sanctus Real, Bebo Norman) and producer Matt Bronleewe (Jars of Clay, Plumb, Chris Tomlin) both contributing to the songwriting, the trio has created the most personal Robert Pierre album yet.
Simply amazing.
He reminds me a bit of Michael W. Smith. If you visit his
website you can listen to one of the tracks from this new CD. It's called "Light the Way" and I believe it's my favorite track from this CD.
