Sharp, Sharp Knives!

aka......A CSN Stores Product Review

A few weeks ago, before I decided to ignore my blog, I posted about my desire to make changes to my kitchen. Even though I’d still love to do something big, my house is only 5 years old. It just wouldn’t make sense. I’ll have to wait until things need to be replaced. (Hopefully a good long time!)

In that ancient post about changing my kitchen I mentioned that I’d like to buy something to use in the kitchen instead. Like knives….


Well, the amazing folks at CSN Stores contacted me and offered a brand spankin’ new set of knives in exchange for a review of the product and their performance.

Don’t you know I jumped all over that?!?

CSN Stores is a massive collection of online specialty shops carrying more than a million different products. You can find anything you need for your kitchen from dinner plates to microwave ovens and everything in between. Can you believe it? A whole online store of nothing but dinner plates?? Yes….and over 200 other specialized stores just as amazing. But let’s get back to my knives….


I was allowed to browse the selection of knives at Cookware.com and choose my favorite. The knives I wanted were out of stock (they were a great deal!).  I decided to ask about a backorder. Not only was I able to place a backorder, the customer service representative was able to tell me how long it would be before the knives were back in stock. I placed the backorder and was surprised to learn the knives were being shipped to me a couple of weeks earlier than expected. Yippee! Their convenient email notification system kept me updated every step of the way.


I was ridiculously excited over these knives. In my defense, it has been a very long time. Just look at the knives I had been using……

Yeah. Now you understand. And I bet you’re even feeling a little sorry for me. Well, don’t. Because look at what I have now!

The Ronco Six Star set, including the Ronco Rocker……………..Ta Da!!!!! Shiny, sharp knives! And lots of ‘em.

Each knife came individually wrapped in a cardboard sleeve covered and encased in plastic. Each knife has a number that corresponds with its own special named slot in the wooden knife block-great for a novice like me. Here’s what they look like all out of the wrappers and in the wooden block…..

As I sat out a tomato for the first test, my daughter begged me to be careful and made me wait until she had ‘911’ on her cell phone speed dial. I am notorious for kitchen mishaps and all around clumsiness, so I stood patiently until she gave me the go ahead. I sliced that tomato like buttah! Ha! I was tempted to break out an empty soda can like they do on those old television commercials, but I refrained.

And yes, I did cut myself-just a little. These babies are SHARP!



I’ve had my new knives about 8 weeks now and I love them. Kitchen food prep is so much easier now! I have to admit, I’ve cut myself several times, but only minor cuts, and I think I’m getting better.
