It was a Good Good Friday....

One kid was at school, two kids were at Mamaw’s, and one kid was 'too cool to go on an outing with his parents'. That left only one little kid. So...we hit the road for some fun!


Mom, Dad, and one kid rarely happens…


With the promise of ice cream, we piled into the car and headed out to a local state park. Of course, we stopped at Sonic for sweet tea (for the adults) and a dish of ice cream for the ride.


Once we arrived at the park, we strolled around the lake while Eli got dangerously close to the water in order to throw in a variety of items. In the water went rocks, sticks, leaves, sweet gum balls…











He was having a great time!






Once we had rescued Eli from the water’s edge several times, we decided to find a trail instead.

It felt great to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine. (Thank you, Claritin!)

As we were driving out of the park, we spotted an old deserted playground. We just had to stop and slide on that old metal slide…

It was a good Good Friday.

Even though I often found myself pushing back the crucifixion images from The Passion of the Christ, it was a good Good Friday because I know that the crucifixion was not the end of the story:

In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the
men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still
with you in Galilee:

'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified
and on the third day be raised again.'
