Birthday Celebration!

This past Monday, my next to the youngest child celebrated his 7th birthday. He specifically asked for chocolate cake with white icing and Spiderman cupcakes. At the last minute, as in the day before, I might add.

I bought the ingredients and supplies to make the chocolate cupcakes, all the while planning on Spiderman bakery cupcakes. Of course, there were no Spiderman cupcakes at the bakery and it was too late to order. I picked out a box of Spongebob cupcakes instead....with fluorescent pink and green icing.

I stashed the homemade cupcake ingredients for a later day and set the Spongebob cupcakes on the kitchen counter. I knew he was going to love those cupcakes!

The next morning, the birthday 'day', I was tidying my bedroom when the 2 year old ran in giggling. He was covered in pink and green goo. I gasped. He giggled. His face was pink and green from nose to chin. His hands, clothes, even his feet(?!?!) were loaded with globs of icing.

I took him to the tub and settled him in, dreading the trip to the kitchen. I walked slowly, slowly, ever so slowly into the dining room and around the corner.....

The entire box of 16 cupcakes.....on the floor. The stepping stool was pulled up to the counter. It, too was covered with pink and green globs.

How did he do it so quickly? And where were his siblings when he did it?!?!

In my shock, I cleaned it all up, thankful that several of the cupcakes were just upside down in the top of the box. At least the kids would be able to eat them.

Looking back, it was one time that I totally forgot to take pictures. However, I can still see it all in my mind. Giggle.... It is funny now....

I pulled out the stash of ingredients and made the chocolate cupcakes with white icing. The party went on. Thank goodness!

The next day, I was cleaning up the kitchen and looked at the box of upside down cupcakes. Hmmm..... "I'm sure they taste just as good-just a little messy," I thought. I grabbed one and turned it over. There were tiny hunks missing. The 2 year old had eaten as much as he could with the cupcake liner intact! I frantically turned each cupcake over and, yep....all of them had little 2 year old bites missing! That little stinker! I threw the box and all in the trash, but I did get pictures.

Here are a few shots from the birthday:

The Birthday Boy! Happy 7th birthday, Cade! You little sweetie..... I love you with all my heart!

The demolished cupcakes! All sixteen were destroyed. These are the ones that were still in the box...

The guilty party-enjoying his second round of cupcakes!

Never, ever a dull moment! :o)
