I think I have spring burnout. At least that's what it feels like.
I am trying to stay the course but I'm finding much more pleasure in planning for this fall!
After 2 years with ACE, I feel the need for rejuvenation. Not that there is anything wrong with ACE.....we love ACE and it has been very good for us. BUT, after praying about it, I feel really pulled towards a simpler method.
I am thinking back to our days of Five In A Row and all of the wonderful things WE learned. I'm also reading Ruth Beechick's books. She has such great ideas! That's the way I want my children to learn to learn.
So, starting this week, we will be slowly phasing in a little Learning Language Arts Through Literature, FIAR and Beautiful Feet History. We are still going to do our Paces and finish out the year.
My 8th grader is a little different. She is dyslexic. She has had much success with ACE. She feels much more comfortable with the firm guidelines. She knows exactly what needs to be done. With unit studies, she always seemed to flounder.
So, we hope to continue with ACE for high school with her.
Just posting about this fall makes me feel like I'm catching a spring breeze!
I know....corny, huh.
I think I'll come back and post about how things are going with school since I feel so much better!
Hey!
That must be why they call this HOMESCHOOL BLOGGER!

Oh Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you as you begin this new journey;-)
